Bad bills in Sacramento

Writer: California Right to LifeCalifornia Right to Life

Update August 31, 2024: The Senate and Assembly passed all four bills and they will become law unless vetoed by Governor Newsom.

The California legislature is in the final days of its two year session. Four deadly anti-child bills are up for a vote as soon as today:

SB 729 would redefine infertility to include those whose “status” does not result in procreation: same sex couples and single people. It would require insurers to cover in vitro fertilization for them, intentionally creating children to grow up without a mother or without a father.

You can read our letter of opposition to SB 729 here.

AB 2085 would prevent municipal authorities from blocking the building of Planned Parenthood facilities. It would also streamline the building process for Planned Parenthood, creating exemptions to bypass regular state requirements.

AB 2490 would award grants to organizations that train and equip hospital emergency departments to do abortions.

AB 2670 would require the State Department of Public Health to develop a public awareness campaign to drive traffic to the state abortion website, which lists abortion facilities and how to get funding for an abortion.

Find your California representatives here. Please ask your Senator to vote no on SB 729 and AB 2490 and ask your Assemblyman to vote no on AB 2085 and AB 2670.
