Stop Abortions at Enloe

What would you do if you found out that the only hospital in town had started doing elective abortions - into the second trimester?

That is the question Mary Waldorf faced after learning that Dr. Holly Rankin, the new OBGYN on staff at Enloe Hospital in Chico, California, is offering abortions.

Mary Waldorf doesn’t consider herself anything special, but she keeps saying yes to God.

She’s been volunteering at a pregnancy center, assisting new moms, and leading the 40 Days for Life campaign in Chico for years, in addition to meeting all the demands on her time as a wife, mother, and grandmother.

I first contacted Mary a few years ago when I was asked if I could help a pregnant mom in Chico who was all alone without any support network. This mom had taken the first abortion pill, regretted it, and found an abortion pill reversal provider to save her baby’s life, but had no resources or mentors to help her prepare for her daughter’s birth.

I was able to connect the mom with Mary, who supported her and her boyfriend through the pregnancy and beyond. This mom went from being a pro-choice agnostic to a pro-life Christian and now speaks publicly in support of abortion pill reversal. But that’s a story for another day.

When a nurse from Enloe Hospital in Chico reported to me a few weeks ago that Enloe was going to start elective abortions and the staff had been told they couldn’t opt out, I connected her with Mary. Mary had just heard the news from a fellow parishioner who works at Enloe.

Local media outlets refuse to cover the story, so Mary took her 40 Days vigil to the hospital and started seeing results immediately. Staff who had not heard were horrified to find out about the abortions, and Mary soon heard that the hospital was a hornet’s nest of discontent.

Mary started a petition so she can show Enloe’s board of directors how much the community disagrees with their decision to offer elective abortions. She is circulating the petitions at Chico churches, and California Right to Life is hosting it online for her, as well.

Chico residents are not happy with Enloe! Within three days of launching the online petition, I was able to send Mary the first 500 names. Mary has set a goal of 10,000 signatures to get the attention of Enloe’s board of directors, and you can help her reach it.

Are you from Chico? Do you know someone in Chico or the surrounding communities? Please sign the petition and share it with your friends!
