School's Out!

It’s summer! This spring semester we reached tens of thousands of high school and college students through campus outreach, thanks to you, our supporters, and our dedicated volunteers.

We led students to the truth through conversations, we showed them the reality of abortion with our signs, and we distributed thousands of our persuasive and engaging magazines. By engaging with the students we can see the culture shift, one person at a time. 

One volunteer, Phil, a college student himself, described an encounter he had when we were conducting outreach at Santa Barbara City College:

We were handing out flyers for a while. It felt like there wasn’t much of an effect because it was so hard to have someone engage with you, but then one kid about my age came up to me and started asking me questions about what we were protesting and what the signs meant. 

When I explained to him that those were aborted fetuses he had a very strong reaction of disgust and fear. I tried to go through some more images from the pamphlet with him since the sign had such an effect. When I showed him the textbook images of an abortion and what a fetus looked like at the different stages of pregnancy he just kept saying, “Dang, that’s a kid! That’s a kid!” 

By the end of our conversation he not only took a pamphlet, but admitted he had no idea abortion killed kids. He thought it was like flushing some cells without hurting anything that was alive yet. 

Gemma, another young volunteer who was able to join us a couple times, was surprised by the students’ openness:

I was surprised by how many people seemed to genuinely be seeking the truth, and a pretty good number were willing to at least listen to me, and admit that they didn't have answers. It was pretty evident that there was space for us to actually change people.

Our outreach definitely does change people. Not everyone will listen, but some students are ready to learn the truth. This semester we had students not only change their minds on abortion, but also ask us how to build their relationship with God!

School’s out for the summer, but we will resume our campus outreach in the fall!
